About the Book

An anthology of 12 African American women’s stories, featuring unique accounts of their lives from youth to adulthood and how they found the strength to overcome the terrifying, insurmountable challenges of education, discrimination, toxic relationships, domestic violence, and emotional abuse, many times at the hands of people who were supposed to love them.

About the Golden Writers

Our life events have brought us to our current state of being. Those events will heavily influence our futures.  Our perspective of the world around us has been shaped by our experiences and maybe if we share the events in our life stories with our great, great, great grandchildren it will allow them to know us better. Maybe they will be guided by what we have written.  Sometimes we told of an event which let someone know that we understand their condition or situation. Our empathy comes from similar experiences. Maybe our story is worth telling because it gets a chuckle or makes someone laugh.  These are some of the reasons we have written this collection of short memoirs. These are our stories and we have told them in the manner that we want our stories told.

It is with these mindsets that we, The Golden Writers, started writing our memoirs. In some cases, we have chosen to enhance our stories with pictures. Please note these are not attempts to give complete chronological events of our lives. These writings are not meant to be biographies or autobiographies. These are some of our life experiences that we simply cannot forget.
